Prolio

Psychologists — top professionals

Choose your city

Psychologists treat anxiety, depression, trauma, relationship issues and clinical disorders. Only psicólogos habilitados sanitarios are legally allowed to diagnose and provide clinical therapy in Spain — everyone else is offering coaching or general support.

Prolio prioritises psychologists with current registration in the autonomous-community COP plus their habilitación sanitaria. The first consultation is usually an assessment — use it to see whether you click with the therapist before committing.

Frequently asked questions

How do I verify a Spanish psychologist?

Look up their colegiado number on the regional COP website (COPM Madrid, COPC Catalonia, COPPCV Valencia…) and check they're listed as habilitado sanitario. Without that habilitation they cannot legally treat clinical disorders.

How much does therapy cost in Spain?

Private session: €50-€100. Online sessions are usually 10-20% cheaper. Senior therapists in central areas can charge up to €120. Many offer a reduced or free first consultation.

Psychologist, psychoanalyst, or psychiatrist?

Psychologist: therapy under health habilitation (cannot prescribe). Psychiatrist: medical doctor who prescribes antidepressants and anxiolytics. Psychoanalyst: a school within psychology, not a separate credential. For severe disorders, many patients see both a psychologist and a psychiatrist.
